So besides the folks in New England, is there anyone out there who celebrates Patriots' Day? I was thinking that everyone in the United States should declare the day a national holiday and stay home from work and school. Really, I was hoping to stay home from work and watch Kara Goucher clinch the marathon for the Americans, but I guess that I will have to wait another year for an American to get close -- only 9 seconds from the win. Actually the women's race was quite competitive and if you saw the finish, would be totally bummed if you were a fan of the defending champ, Dire Tune. The Kenyan, Kosgei closed in at the very end to beat Tune by one crazy second.
At the least the Red Sox won, right? Good luck next year Kara. Either way, you made me proud and have inspired me to keep running.
I must go now and observe the day and be thankful for democracy and independence.
